Akin to a GPS system, this involves the use of real-time data from CT or MRI scans to create 3D images of the sinuses and surrounding structures of the nose.
The IGS can be used with or without endoscopic sinus surgery. With the detailed 3D image, it offers greater visibility of the surgical site, which greatly enhances precision and accuracy of the surgery, improving patient safety and surgical outcomes.
With reduced pain, faster recovery, minimal scarring and postoperative complications, ESS is a minimally invasive procedure using a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light attached (endoscope) to treat various nose conditions.
ESS is often used to treat structural abnormalities that results in sinus problems (eg. a deviated septum, enlarged nasal turbinates or structurally narrow sinus openings). Removal of nasal polyps and tumors, or treatment of nasal neuralgia can also be done through this procedure.
